Person with Albinism in Kisoro Living in Fear after Failing to Go for Skin Cancer Treatment

Maxi, 47 years old, is a married male who hails from Bihuru village, Gasiza village, Nyakabande Subcounty, Kisoro District. He has 5 children who depend from him because Maxi is the bread winner.

He survives on casual labor as a peasant. He was first diagnosed on July 12th, 2017 from Kisoro Hospital. A sample of his muscle/specimen taken from his wound was sent to Mulago Hospital and later the results showed that he had started developing skin cancer on his hip wound in the picture below.

The second confirmatory test was conducted at Mbarara Hospital when a sample was sent to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in 2018,  and the result was positive. Even the wound on the neck was tested at Mbarara Regional referral Hospital, and it also tested positive for Skin Cancer. The picture below shows the wound on the right part of the neck which is also cancerous.

Mr. Sibomana is so worried that the cancer might eat up the hip bone, and it shall be worse if it reaches the ball and socket joint. He also says that it is going so bad and he is appealing for urgent help.

After both tests were conducted, the recommendations were that; he should go for medication (Radio therapy and also get tablets).  He has since failed to go for treatment because he has no money for transport, meals and accommodation and medication (radio therapy and tablets).

He cried to SCOSP (NGO) for help since the charity is already working in the area, preventing skin cancer among the children with albinism. He requested for support so that he can go for this medical treatment which is very urgently needed to save his life.

Sibomana is so worried that if he is does not go for this treatment, he will lose his life. He says the pain he is experiencing is a lot and he will be so grateful if someone he calls a good Samaritan comes to his rescue.
